This research and development is regarding a novel green-chemical process of “One-step Synthesis of Ammonia from Atmospheric Air and Water”.
Haruyama, the research representative, previously discovered a typical interfacial reaction between a gas and water. The research representative is inspired by the own discovery, we proposed our research and development to the NEDO R&D project. In the present NEDO project study, one-step synthesis of ammonia from atmospheric air (mixed gas with 78% N2 + 21% O2 + traces of other gases) and water (H2O) has been developed, based on the unique reaction locus between gas and water under typical condition but at standard temperature and pressure (25 °C, atmospheric pressure).
This research project has been developed by Kyushu Institute Technology (Representative organization), and with Ebara Jitsugyo Co. Ltd., Nippon steel & Sumikin Engineering Co. Ltd., and Tokyo Institute of Technology.
The novel reaction process may provide an alternative solution that enables both energy conservation and CO2 emissions reduction.
