1. Introduction
This research and development project, with combining the development project (subsidized project), aims to develop maintenance method based on condition monitoring, is aiming to prevent accidents, reduce maintenance cost by early repair, increasing the availability factor of wind power generation by reducing the downtime of the wind turbine, and producing technological report on Condition Monitoring System (CMS).
2. Research Outcome
The outcome of the research and development in FY2015 is as follows.
1) Obtaining basic information concerning past failure and accidents and maintenance of wind turbine
(1) Obtaining information of failure and accidents of wind turbines.
Detailed analysis of failures and accidents of wind turbines in Japan was conducted, and concluded that the failure rate of small WFs is larger than that of large WFs..
(2) Obtaining the basic information on wind turbine maintenance in and out of Japan.
From the questionnaire results conducted last FY, the O&M costs of the small WFs are larger per WTGs are larger than that of large WFs in Japan.
2) Obtaining information on Condition Monitoring technologies of wind turbines.
As a new function to the CMS, we adapted a two-step method, which estimates the fatigue in a yearly time span and detect damages in 2-4 months span.
3) Collection of information of CMS technology and certification standard
Collected and analyzed the CMS technology and certification standard.
4) Development of prediction method of WTG fatigue
Made two papers based on the research results of last year.
5)Making Technical material for CMS
Based on the last FY’s results, made technical material for CMS
6) Evaluation of maintenance using CMS
From the cost of CMS, we found that the O&M cost can be lowered if the regular inspection can be reduced.

Also, we held "Smart Maintenance Technology and Development Committee" 3 times, the progress of the Project was confirmed, and we were given direction and advices to the analysis hereon.
