(1) Review on Qualification Test Items on PCSs for Small Wind Turbine Generators
We reviewed qualification test items on PCSs for small wind turbine generators using qualification test items on PCSs for photovoltaic power generation systems being implemented by JET. Considering the characteristics of small wind turbine generator systems, we extracted specific tests that are considered to be necessary as qualification test items on PCSs for small wind turbine generators. These discussions were done by the working group consisting of members from power firms, JET, etc., for which the consigned party undertook responsibilities for the secretariat.
(2) Building of PCS Test Evaluation System
We built a PCS test evaluation system to clarify movements of PCSs for small wind turbine generators and obtain test data which will be used as materials for discussions in the above working group. We also developed an FRT test system using a programmable AC power supply with a smaller capacity than PCSs since we assumed an FRT test conducted at an actual field where heavy objects were difficult to transfer and the power was insufficient.
(3) Collecting Remote Data from Small Wind Power Generation Systems at Actual Field
We collected real time power generation and wind condition data for horizontal axis type small wind turbine generators remotely at actual fields in Noda City, Chiba Prefecture and Oga City, Akita Prefecture to study the level of fluctuations in PCS input voltages and outputs of small wind power generation systems. We also analyzed the range of changes in PCS input voltage/energy which is important for standardization of PCSs.
