1. Island grid demonstration utilizing electric vehicles (EV)

Hitachi continued operating the demonstration system which controls EV charging hours at participants’ home based on the forecast electricity demand and excess wind generation.
Hitachi also installed additional Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) stations to increase grid stability and EV usability.

Hitachi customized demonstration systems in order to mitigate solar generation impacts on the grid, especially, by increasing EV charging in daytime and by enabling EV discharging during the system "peak" hours. This was achieved by additional server software in the demonstration system and the newly developed two-way charging device capable of discharging EV battery. This system was developed conforming the utility’s interconnection rules to allow EV discharging.


2. ICT-Platform and security

Cyber Defence Institute and Hitachi conducted penetration tests to the software modified in FY2015 and ensured its cyber security to start operating in the next fiscal year.

3. Business model for utilizing low fossil fuel on islands

Mizuho Bank, Ltd. and Hitachi estimated profitability of operating Virtual Power Plant to be demonstrated in this project and DCFC stations.
