英文要約Title: Research and Development on Hydrogen Use Technology / Research and Development on Infrastructure Development for Safety of Hydrogen Station / Research and Development on Lightning Protection for Hydrogen Station (FY2014-FY2016) FY2015 Annual Report

This research is aimed to contribute to the safety and reliability of the hydrogen station, especially against lightning damage, by estimating the lightning risk to human being or equipment and considering the effective protection against lightning damage. The results of this year are shown below;
(1) In order to confirm the influence to the hydrogen station by the lightning strike and the lightning surge, the demonstrative experiments were conducted at the hydrogen station in Tosu.
The lightning impulse tests were performed by the assumed surge penetration paths.
As the result, it was able to be clarified the following lightning risks.
a) Due to the lightning striking to the vent-stack directly or near it, the potential voltage between the dispenser and the earth can be generated, and it can be a risk which the high voltage is applied to the human body. However the voltage caused by the lightning near the vent-stack is much lower than that by the lightning directly.
b) The potential difference between the different earth terminals caused by direct lightning strikes or near lightning, there is a possibility to generate unnecessary operation (trip) of the circuit breaker(MCCB), or malfunction or damage to the connected devices.
c) In spite of the generated voltage between the earth terminals is from several 100 V to 1 kV, malfunction and damage of the explosion-proof barrier has occurred. It is seemed that the rated current of the current fuse in explosion-proof barrier is too small as the several 10 mA.
(2) From these results, we can propose the lightning protection measures in the hydrogen station:
a) The measures for earth systems: In order to reduce the potential difference between the earth terminals, it shall connect the earth terminals to each other or via the SPD for the earth terminals only. At that time, using a mesh conductor or basic reinforcement, the hydrogen station can have the desirable potential equalization.
b) The measures for the power supply line and communication line: SPD or SIT (Surge-Isolation-
Transformer) should be installed in the power supply line to reduce the lightning surge
voltage and current of the power supply line. However, in the secondary side of the
explosion-proof barrier, specification of explosion-proof is required. In addition, blown measures of explosion-proof barrier fuse is the future subject.
c) The measures for the dispenser: In order to reduce the potential difference between the human body and the earth caused by direct lightning strikes to vent-stack, placing the metal plate at the feet near the dispenser.And connected to the metal plate and the station housing. Also in this case, it is recommended to use the basic reinforcement.
