英文要約The purpose of the project is to develop the artificial knee joint which is optimized to fit the bone geometry of the Thai people and to reconstruct the joint function fulfill their lifestyle.
The bone geometries of the thirty cases of Japanese and Thai people were investigated and there seemed to be the differences between two groups in the feasibility study on the fiscal year 2014. The number of cases and measurement points about femur and tibia were increased and its differences of the geometry were analyzed in detail within the fiscal year 2015.
The samples were 100 cases of female with normal knee in both groups. The femoral bone alignment was based on the mechanical axis and the surgical epicondylar axis, and the tibial bone alignment was based on the mechanical axis and the Antero-Posterior (hereinafter called “AP”) axis.
Measurement points of femur were the AP and Medio-Lateral (hereinafter called “ML”) of the condyle which are believed to be basic and anatomically important. Furthermore, the width of the femoral anterior flange and the height of posterior condyle of the bone cutting face that implanting was assumed. About tibia, AP and ML of bone cutting face, the shape of articular surface, posterior slope were measured.
Thai people’s data were measured by the member of research institute in Thai. Measurement results were verified with test case beforehand so that measurement errors between both Japanese and Thai workers were eliminated.
From this measurement result, it was found that Femoral AP, ML and AP/ML, tibia AP and ML were different in both groups. Mismatch is highly possible even in the case that a product for Japanese is implanted as well as in the case that the western based product currently distributed in Thailand is implanted.
The prototype production and its evaluation will be done within next fiscal year.
