In this project, many professional engineers will be cultivated for switching power conversion technology, which is taken the lead in high-efficiency power utilization (power saving) by manufacturers such as electrical machinery, consumer electronics and automobile. Because peripheral technology to support the switching power conversion device is a wide variety, it has become a barrier on a beginner to learn. Only experienced technicians who have piled up the foundation of peripheral disciplines are recognized as switching power conversion equipment developers.
In this project, we aim to raise technical level of the novice up to this level in a short period of time, using teaching materials with an emphasis on physical image, by providing education by rational curriculum. For this reason, by dividing the educational program into basic courses for beginners and the advanced course of the higher level, we make the effective human resource cultivation program in cooperation with the subcontractor, National Institute of Technology, Nara College (NIT-NC).
(1) Basic Course (in charge: NIT-NC, deputy in charge: Osaka University)
The experiments and practical training with a practical electrical circuit aimed at practical skills training through the curriculum as a main component. In addition to the experiments and practice, the lectures of the electrical circuit and of power semiconductor devices equip the students with the basic knowledge and common sense in the art.
(2) Advanced Course (in charge: Osaka University, deputy in charge: NIT-NC)
We will cultivate an extremely capable engineer on both sides of the theory and practice through the related lectures on switching power conversion based on the basic principle. By education materials and rational curriculum with an emphasis on the physical image, we will train engineers who essentially can understand various phenomena caused by switching action. The final goal is to aim the training of advanced engineers who can solve problems in the only thought experiment.
The capacity of both courses is 25 students and 1 class each (50 students per year in total).
This year, for preparation to the FY2016 educations, we created the curriculum, and in addition, we set out to create lecture texts; up to that of second lecture (the basic course), of fifth lecture (the advanced course).
For such as teaching materials to be used in the experiments and training, electronic components and measuring instruments used in the experiments and practical training of the basic course, and in the project design of the advanced course, we have purchased the tool or the like in cooperation with NIT-NC. In addition, we determined the way for subscription of the students. In addition, a home page on this project was created, which is scheduled to open from the top of FY2016.
