 The social installation project entitled " Energy-Saving Displays Designed with Versatile Usability (Clean Device Promotion Project) " started in fiscal year 2015. Main subjects of this project are as follows; 1) standardization and commonalization of technical specification, 2) evaluation of reliability and safety, 3) installation and demonstration, and 4) creation of use cases in regard to the corresponding display devices.

1) The reviewing committee on technology standardization toward social installation of the versatile displays was established in Jan. 2016 in Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) to discuss the technical specifications regarding the reliability and safety standards among the display industry, and to make the reviews available to the public for encouraging the utilization of the versatile display devices. 14 members from 6 companies and AIST have taken part in the committee so far, and the first meeting was held on Mar. 3rd, 2016 to start the standardization and commonalization activity.
2) We installed our Transparent Display for the transparent fence that prevents passengers from falling from the platform at TOYOSU Station of TOKYO METRO Line. The display was installed in the indoor environment, and was sandwiched between a pair of guard glass. So the environmental condition was not so hard from the view point of reliability and safety. Considering this data, we started the preservation test at 60 degree C with the humidity of 95 percents. Until today, hundreds of hours have passed and no problem is observed. We clarified in Toyosu stantion that the vibration was strongest when a train left the station and the maximum vibration acceleration was less than 2 meters per square seconds. We carried out the vibration test. Any problem has not rised. Iron powder density in the atmosphere at subway platform is rather high and its influence to display quality is not negligible. We set small test pieces of polarizers near the panel, and are now checking the transmittance and clarity periodically.
3) We checked the performance of our display. We optimized the gamma characteristics of our display. Our display covers rather high color gamut; around 80% of NTSC.
4) We minimized the driving circuits. The circuit volume was reduced to one third that of the original one.
5) We fixed some plans of installing the transparent display to some new applications. Different from the case in Toyosu station of Tokyo subway, the back-ground is to be bright. The information contents have been discussed and are going to be fixed considering how to maximize the effect of the transparent characteristics.
