英文要約Title: Development of Non-destructive Testing Apparatus using Ultra Compact X-ray System and Neutron Moisture Meter for Infrastructure Maintenance
(FY2014-FY2016) FY2015 Annual Report

In order to apply non-destructive testing apparatus using ultra compact X-ray system and neutron sensor to infrastructure maintenance, we are developing high energy (more than 200 kV tube voltage) compact X-ray sources, CdTe X-ray detectors, and neutron moisture meter using a neutron source. Furthermore, those sources and detectors will be installed in a robot of a non-destructing testing system for pipes in chemical plants, which is covered by thermal insulating materials. In FY2015, we have developed several components for X-ray and neutron non-destructing testing apparatus, and carried out experiments as following: 1) A neutron moisture meter has been installed in the robot developed in FY2014. The performance of the robot for 6 inch pipes has been tested in the field of chemical plants and confirmed that the throughput of the neutron moisture measurement is more than 100 m/day. 2) We have developed X-ray tubes of more than 200 kV tube voltage using carbon nanostructure-based electron emitters. 3) Using the 200kV X-ray tubes, we have made two X-ray generators, which can be installed in the robot. 5) We have developed CdTe imaging sensors, which can be installed in the robot. 6) We have tested the performance of X-ray sources and detectors of 200kV tube voltage, and confirmed that we can obtain X-ray images of more than 70 mm thick steel specimen using the X-ray generators. 7) We have started development of large area X-ray image sensors for high energy X-rays.
