<1. Active Pump type Two Phase Heat Transport System> Preliminary prototype system was developed to find the main technical issues, and following results were obtained. a) Effective system control parameter was examined from system response viewpoint. b) Fluid flow in the evaporator was examined to see the relation between gravity direction and flow direction. c) Analytical model was developed to calculate system performance with a practicable accuracy compared to the measured value. <2. Passive Pump type Two Phase Heat Transport System> Conceptual parametric study was conducted in order to satisfy 5kW non-electric heat transfer requirement. R134a and R245fa were selected as the working fluids. As the results, it was found that thermal requirements were satisfied when parallel evaporators were used. It was also cleared that additional evaluations for the material properties etc. were required for downsizing the evaporators. Analytical model for evaporator wick properties was built and compared to measured value. This method can be used for the development of high-performance and low-cost wick. <3. Smart Axial Fan> The design method of impeller to calculate performance curve and surge flow rate of fans has been developed and applied it to the optimization tool in order to design the impeller with the desirable characteristics. As the result, calculated result of the impeller satisfied the required performance with wide operation range and high efficiency. The prototype rotor blade made of an aluminum alloy was manufactured. The test equipment for evaluating the impeller performance was designed and built. <4. Trend survey for future Air Conditioning System> Information about the issues of current cooling systems and key-point of utilization of two phase system and smart fan for the future aircraft were discussed in the meetings with an airframer and an airliner. Information about the development trends of component/system manufacturers were obtained in meetings in USA.
