・ Reactivity of blast furnace slag aggregate
To make precast concrete using blast furnace slag aggregate into practical application, (1) speedy quality evaluation method for the aggregate and (2) effect of aggregate’s properties against frost damage were investigated. A new quality evaluation method specifying cyclic temperature condition, sample size, measuring procedure was proposed, to take account of anti-freezing agent, current freezing and thawing test condition, and reproducibility. In deteriorated structure of cement-mortar after the test, cracks were observed to extend along aggregate-paste interface. Element density of Slag’s interface had higher than natural aggregate’s one, that may make the cement-concrete of slag aggregate durable. Freezing-and-thawing resistance differed according to slag manufacturing plants, and it was confirmed that fine or lower crystallinity particles showed excellent durability. Slag with finer particle distribution made the durability better even in worse property slag. Therefore, cement-concretes using any blast furnace slag aggregate are possible to achieve high durability.
