The purpose of this study is to develop CMC part for aero-engines that has a capability at 1400 degree Celsius. Using 3rd generation SiC fiber has the solution to achieve the target. Tyranno SA grade is known as a 3rd generation SiC fiber. However the experience of CMC manufactured by SA fiber is limited. So, SA fiber should be improved as it performs appropriately. And an interface coating on the fiber and a matrix should be arranged for the SA fiber. To begin the study of applying SA fiber, creep property of the current SA fiber at elevated temperature (from 1300 to 1500 degree Celsius) was estimated. Single filament fiber was loaded by the dead weight and the loaded stress was 600MPa. From the results, decrease the estimated temperature at 80 degree Celsius caused about 10 times life extension. Then, to obtain the temperature capability at 1400 degree Celsius, BN interface coating should be applied on the SA fiber. This physical year, BN coating was conducted under the typical conditions for 2nd generation SiC fiber. After the process, chemical composition of the BN coating was evaluated by Auger analysis. B, N and little amount of O elements were observed and the result shows BN interface coating has an expected condition.
