Research and development project on fundamental technology to realize 3,000m3 class hydrogen liquefaction and storage system for energy purpose was fulfilled. Implementation plan of FY2015 was accomplished sufficiently. Status of achievement on each development item is described below.
1) Process evaluation of hydrogen liquefaction system
The results of process evaluation on 50t/d class precooling system, high efficient recycle compressor system and cold box were organized and the total system efficiency was improved approximately 20% compared to base case.
2) Kinetic analysis on hydrogen liquefaction cold box
Kinetic analysis was fulfilled and verified by comparing with the actual plant data. Control procedures to correspond to rapid load change were established.
3) Study on high efficient recycle compressor
Total recycle compressor system analysis including multi stage inter-cooler was fulfilled
4) Development of vacuum film layer insulation
1,000m3 class tank test facility including outer shell installation was completed and structural feasibility was confirmed.
5) Development of GFRP saddle
Strains of GFRP saddle structure have been continuously measured by 1,000m3 class tank test facility.
6) Development of Vacuum panel
Vacuum panel cluster insulation including structural design of the panel joint part was considered and heat insulation performance 2.0W/m2 was confirmed by numerical analysis.
7) Development of new steel materials for liquefied hydrogen.
Tensile characteristics of welding part for low rare metal content steel test pieces were fulfilled.
8) Development of liquefied hydrogen pump
Analysis on 200m3/h class liquefied hydrogen pump performance based on the actual 30m3/h class pump test was fulfilled and the result showed that the total efficiency exceeded 50%.
9) Analysis on boil off hydrogen compressor impeller dimension
3-dimensional design of boil off hydrogen compressor impeller was decided and structural design of rotor seal was decided.
10) Hydrogen potential research
Hydrocarbon and renewable energy resource potential research on Canada and Germany was fulfilled.
