1. Test for quantification of failure mechanism of zeolite membranes / 1-1 Research and summarize failure cases of zeolite membranes / Generally, it is said that 20 wt% is the upper limit of water content to use type-A zeolite membrane in any dehydration conditions. However, according to our researches in this term, we can say that this limit has not come from sufficient data on the membrane failure mechanism but been set based on practical experiences, Because the information about the membrane failures is not adequate, we have conducted PV-tests with type-A zeolite membrane in order to collect “alpha value” date which we will use as one of indices to see the membrane life in the “life evaluation test” which we will conduct from this June. / 1-2 Design the continuous running test equipment / We, SEPINO, designed the test equipment. We explained the detail of the equipment to WASEDA University, co-practitioner of this study. They have already ordered it to a manufacturer. The equipment will be delivered by the end of this May. / 1-3 Membrane life evaluation test with the continuous running test equipment / After we receive the equipment, we will launch the life evaluation test. We will use type-A zeolite membrane first in this test and followed by type-CHA zeolite membrane. One of top priorities of this test is to find a good condition of acceleration test to guarantee one(1)-year life by thirty(30)-days test. / 2. Optimize the conditions of the life evaluation test / We will start this test from June, 2016. / 3. Improve the sealing parts / 3-1 Improve the current fabricating process of the sealing parts / We tried some simplified ways to fabricate sealing parts which are parts of the product membrane. At this trial, we could complete one fabricating process in about fifteen (15) seconds. Usually it takes about ten (10) minutes to make one piece by current way. We will make a working prototype machine to improve this simplified way more. / 3-2 Consideration for the alternative sealing ways and materials / We have also tried to find alternative sealing methods and materials. We now use PFA as the material. Unfortunately, we cannot reach a good way or a material to meet our requirements in this term. We will continue this research and consideration.
