In the present industrial bio fuel production process, a homogeneous alkaline catalyst is used, due to the cheaper cost and high catalysis ability.But undesired saponification of the free fatty acid forms an alkaline soap that is needed to down stream treatment to eliminate soap and purification of the product.Anovel ion exchange catalyst process which is invented by Tohoku Universintycan produce higher quality and cheaper production cost. The down side of new process is expensive initial cost for construction both bio fuel production plant and regeneration plant. The separation of bio fuel production plants and regeneration plant can reduce plant construction cost and make effective regeneration plant operation.For isolated island like Tanegashima is suited for some number of small scale production plants and one centralized regeneration plant. Especially for using waste cooking oil as a raw material.In this phase B, we designed and constructed one original decentralized bio fuel production plant and one original centralized generation plant in Kosumo which locates in Tanegashima. Kosumo has started to operate the plants and planning to improve the operation condition, production cost, regeneration method.The scheme of combination of several decentralized small bio fuel production plants and one centralized regeneration plant will be able to contribute for many isolated areas and island.
