Objective:
It is essential to conduct research and development to shorten hydrogen filling time to the hydrogen storage system equipped with the high-pressure hydrogen vessel on FCV, preventing over filling in safe and appropriate manner. Domestic standards relating to hydrogen filling consistent with the international standardization processes are to be developed.

Japan Petroleum Energy Center (JPEC) has cooperated with The Association of Hydrogen Supply and Utilization Technology (HySUT), Kyushu University, and Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI), to promote the themes listed below.

Sub-theme 1: Drafting of revised domestic standards and its enactment. (HySUT, JPEC)
Sub-theme 2: Harmonization of international standards with domestic standards through international cooperation. (HySUT, JARI)
sub-theme 3: Filling technology development / demonstration data obtained. (HySUT, JARI, Kyushu University)
Sub-theme 4: Data acquisition of hydrogen transport properties for high-accurate filling simulation. (Kyushu University)

Results in 2016 FY:

Sub-theme 1: Drafting of revised domestic standards and its enactment. (HySUT, JPEC)

To establish the technical foundation to develop domestic standards relating to secure, proper and swift hydrogen filling at hydrogen stations.

(1) Development of hydrogen technologies standards and voluntary standards:JPEC

JPEC is developing technical standards for supplying hydrogen fuel to a 70 MPa cylinder mounted in an international automobile using compressed hydrogen as a fuel.
Technical review committee on JPEC voluntary standards of compressed hydrogen refueling was established by JPEC. And the JPEC voluntary standard JPEC-S 0003 (2014) based on the international standard SAE J 2601 was developed through discussions from a technical point of view.Based on the achievements of last year that formulated JPEC - S 0003 (2014), voluntary standards for refueling FC buses for FCV hydrogen refueling stations were formulated.
As a result, it was enacted as the JPEC voluntary standard JPEC-S 0003 (2016).
This year, we revised the JPEC Voluntary Standard JPEC-S 0003 (2016) to revise the exemplified standard. Next year, the deliberation of the JPEC Voluntary Standards JPEC-S 0003 (2016) will initiate by the KHK Standards Review Committee.
Also, in response to the addition of MC Formula to SAE J2601, we began considering revising the JPEC Voluntary Standard JPEC-S 0003(2016).
In this revision, we investigated whether it can be applied also to dealing with reduction of APRR at preset filling and filling completion.
Meanwhile, we started investigating how to filling hydrogen for industrial machines such as FC forklifts and FC motorcycles.
