1. Purpose:The purpose of this project is to expand the energy-saving and GHG reduction using the energy - saving wastewater reclamation system with membrane technology as an alternative for seawater desalination. In feasibility study in Dammam 1st Industrial City, it was studied that 3,500 m3/day reclaimed water can be produced from 5,000 m3/day of wastewater. Based on a result of this feasibility study, the wastewater reclamation plant is constructed in Dammam 1st Industrial City under the agreement of Implementation Document with MODON. Reclaimed water is reused for industrial water inside in the Industrial City. 2. Project summary:[Plant Site] Dammam 1st Industrial City (Approx. 30 km from Dammam Airport) [Site Area] Approx. 2,000,000 m2 [Number of Industries] Approx. 120 [Industries Type] Chemicals, Aluminum Products, Metal Products, Plastic Products, Beverage Manufacture, Electric Materials, Paint Materials and etc. [Wastewater Quantity] 5,000 m3/day [Reclaimed Water Quantity] 3,500 m3/day (Reuse as Industrial Water) [Wastewater Quality (Max.)] TDS=8,000 mg/L, TSS=1,500 mg/L, COD=2,500 mg/L, BOD=1,000 mg/L [Treated Water Quality (Target Value)] SS<10 mg/L, COD<30 mg/L, BOD<10 mg/L, TOC<20 mg/L [Treatment System] DAF+MBR+RO and Sludge Treatment 3. Conducted item:(1)Procurement: RO Membrane were delivered in December 2015. Procurement of Japan equipment was finished.(2)Preservation inspection for Japan equipment: CHIYODA CORPORATION received preservation inspection report every month and confirmed they were stored with no serious damage. But rust was found in DAF polymer Dissolution Unit and this unit is under repair work by manufacturer. (3)Construction: This plant is under construction by Saudi side since November 2014. Construction work was planned to complete in July 2016 (include commissioning). But it seems to be few months delay in actual progress.(4)Other: Even if construction work is delayed, this project will be finished in July 2017 as planned by shortening demonstration period.3.
