1. International promotion of NEDO demonstration achievements
(1) Study on how NEDO demonstration is positioned
In order to clarify how NEDO’s smart community demonstration projects conducted overseas are positioned in the world and make comparison and analysis of characteristic findings of each demonstration, we conducted a study during FY2015 on the situations in Europe, Asia and the U.S. For Europe, it became clear that R&D and demonstrations were carried out to cover smart grid in general instead of focusing on specific theme as in the U.S. For Asia, it was found out that continued active efforts were taken in the projects on smart grid, etc. in China, India and Thailand. There has been a delay in the project in Masdar City but the construction is still ongoing. Concerning EV-related project in the U.S., it was clarified that although introduction of 1 million electric vehicles by 2015 was not achieved, EV-related demonstrations were actively implemented, indicating that EV has been drawing attention as one of smart grid technologies like load levelling, frequency regulation, etc.
(2) Preparation of case studies concerning demonstration in Malaga
Case studies were organized to publicize the effectiveness of demonstration results in Malaga and the significance of implementing the demonstration. Information for the case studies was collected by literature search, interview to the organizer of the project as well as to the local stakeholders in Spain. An effective solution for future EV management was successfully developed during the demonstration in Malaga, showing that the project succeeded in fostering consciousness of EV users, etc.
(3) Preparation of peer-review report on New Mexico Demonstration Project
In order to prepare the peer-review report, we have organized information according to the topics including project outline, positioning and necessity of project, accomplishments and possible dissemination, which are considered to be important criteria.

2. Workshop aimed at promoting the achievements of NEDO demonstration project
A workshop was held near Albuquerque in October with a total of 67 attendees gathered from the U.S. and Japan. Through the site tour to New Mexico demonstration facility, it was confirmed that the equipment was continuously utilized by the U.S. counter party. Regarding 2016 workshop which will be co-hosted by the Government of Ontario, Canada and Japan, there were consultations between EPRI and the Ministry of Energy of Ontario.

3. Verification of measures that expand fields of application of microgrid control scheme
As the current fiscal year’s achievement, the university provided training on the critical operation of fuel cell, storage battery system, BEMS and grid EMS equipment; verified the implementation of distributed generations control on the time scales of second to day granularities for the machine learning algorithm (load pattern, insolation forecast, etc.) of distribution system simulator; and also, based on these achievements, designed the system to be implemented next fiscal year.

4. Verification of PV characterization
In order to recognize the performance of PV more accurately based on the long-term operation data, we conducted verification, etc. of PV characteristics. Also, we studied PV characteristics evaluation model, which will contribute to the international standard in collaboration with Sandia National Laboratories in the U.S. Furthermore, we considered integration of methodologies developed in Japan and the U.S. under partnership with Sandia.
