The study collected necessary information for implementing a demonstration project in the Ayeyarwady Region in Myanmar, to establish a resource circulation system of locally-generated rice husk ash. The system applies silica purification technologies and utilizes the silica for admixtures of high-performance cement, building materials, and admixtures of tire rubbers.
(1) Identifying basic information
General information on the study area, such as its population, climate conditions, geographical conditions, and major industries, was collected. In addition, information on waste management and recycling was reviewed, including the generated amount of rice husk ash, their current process routes and associated issues. Furthermore, information on relevant policies, institutions and finance schemes was collected, and the local needs of the proposed technology and system were identified.
(2) Study of implementation plan of the demonstration project
Necessary items of the plan for the demonstration project were examined, including the objective, scope, project site, basic specifications of the demonstration facility (equipment), project tasks, allocation of project tasks and cost, and demonstration schedule and its management method. In addition, Implementation Document for conducting the demonstration project was considered. Furthermore, expected project outcomes of energy saving and environmental improvement such as reduction of environmental impact were examined.
(3) Study of promotion possibilities of the project technology
Possibilities of promoting the proposed technology in Myanmar were considered, including the scale of relevant markets, investment trends, needs of the proposed technology and system, current situation and future prospective on their adoption, and competitive advantage of the project. In addition, project feasibility, project economics, and infrastructure in Myanmar were examined, including project cost, economic evaluation, and current situation on infrastructure development. Furthermore, information was gathered on current situation and future prospective on policies for deployment of proposed technology and system, and measures for their promotion. Additionally, possibilities for developing new promoting frameworks and policies were considered.
(4) Confirming the safety of the proposed technology and system
The study grasped the current situation of rice husk ash, which is possible recycling resource in the demonstration project. The composition of rice husk ash, considerations from the safety aspect and measures to be taken during operation, and current safety standards of rice husk ash and similar materials were investigated.
