The Third Phase of the Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program / Expansion of fundamental technologies and development of rules promoting social implementation to expand HCPS Human-Collaborative Robotics

Project overview

Project period: FY2023 to FY2027, budget: 1.35 billion yen (FY2024)

Social implementation and practical operations at 10 or more domestic and international locations by FY2027, aiming to address challenges comprehensively through the development of fundamental technologies for HCPS Human-Collaborative Robotics, social implementation technologies, and the development of rules to promote dissemination will be started. PD(Program Director)/CAO(Cabinet Office)/NEDO will collaborate with relevant institutions, associations, and government agencies. Additionally, PD/CAO/NEDO will lead the creation and development of the 'Human-Collaborative Robotics Industry' to foster an innovative spiral of positive feedback.

Research and Development

Development of fundamental technologies for HCPS Human-Collaborative Robotics centered on the fusion and integration of humans, AI robots and information systems

The development situation of technologies in Japan that integrate humans, AI robots, and information systems is at a world-class level. Therefore, PD/CAO/NEDO will conduct research and development of component technologies, base technologies for the systemization, and fundamental technologies for the human and environmental recognition, mobility system, and smartphone applications and data integration. PD/CAO/NEDO will promote the development of fundamental technologies while integrating them in coordination with Development of (2) mentioned below.

Development of social implementation technologies for HCPS Human-Collaborative Robotics centered on the fusion and integration of humans, AI robots and information systems

Aiming to enhance the independence and freedom of humans across generations in a super- aging society and to achieve a secure and safe society capable of addressing various issues in life, including the workplace, PD/CAO/NEDO will promote the development of social implementation technologies tailored to use cases, and the development of rules to promote dissemination. This includes extending spare time, addressing the decrease in the labor force, improving the Quality of Life (QoL) and Activities of Daily Living (ADL), contributing to the well- being of the elderly and individuals with disabilities and supporting evacuation during disasters. This effort is closely linked with the Development of (1) mentioned above.
