On June 4, 2019, NEDO and the Japan Smart Community Alliance (JSCA) held the Smart Community Summit 2019 in Otemachi, Tokyo. Energy experts from the United States and Japan introduced recent projects aimed at improving the resilience of energy systems and ongoing standardization efforts that will help to enhance disaster preparedness during lectures in the “Against natural disasters - Strengthening disaster resilience” session. Direct current (DC) power system experts from Germany, China, and Japan also explored the latest trends and future outlook of DC technology during a series of lectures in the “The era of DC begins – Pursuit of DC/AC best mix” session.

The conference hall was nearly filled to capacity with attendees who actively asked questions, and the summit ended successfully. NEDO will continuously strive to disseminate information on the latest smart community trends in an effective way to pursue a deeper level of communication.
