-Demonstration for Hybrid Solar Inverter & Battery System with Monitoring and Control in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada-

July 21, 2015
New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)

NEDO has agreed to collaborate with the Canadian city of Oshawa and Oshawa Power Utility Corporation (OPUC) of Canada on a smart community demonstration project, concluding a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the project on July 17, 2015.

The demonstration project, which will proceed for two years beginning from fiscal year (FY) 2015, will see the installation of hybrid inverter systems for unified control of solar panels and storage batteries in 30 homes in the city of Oshawa. The project will demonstrate the system's use as an emergency power source during power outages while verifying its ability to stabilize the power grid. In addition, the project will verify a business model to be expanded in other parts of the world.
