NEDO Begins an Autonomous and Real-time Traffic Signal Control System Demonstration Project in Moscow, Russia

NEDO has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Moscow Government Center of Traffic Regulation (GKU TsODD), to conduct a demonstration of the “Autonomous and Real‐Time signal control based on Estimation traffic demand for Minimization of Signal waiting time” (ARTEMIS) system. This one-year project will be launched in FY2016 and involve the installation of traffic signal systems capable of coordinating with each other at five intersections in Moscow to verify the system’s traffic congestion reduction effect. It will also include work on validating business models for the expansion of the system to other areas outside the city.
