Project to Construct Innovative Material Development Methods Launched
－Aims to Drastically Reduce Number of Prototypes and Length of Development Periods to 1/20 of Current Levels－

NEDO has launched a new project to develop a common platform technology intended to reduce the number of prototypes and development period length required to develop functional materials to 1/20 of current levels utilizing computational science.
As part of this project, an innovative multi-scale simulation method to predict the function of materials based on structure and composition will be developed with a focus on organic functional materials by 2018. In addition, by 2021 the project aims to establish a new material discovery method that will utilize technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to derive the optimum structure and composition of a material to achieve given desired functions.
