NEDO Expands Project to Support the Mass Introduction of Solar Power in Society
-Creating Safety Guidelines for Design and Maintenance and Developing Low-Cost Reuse Technology-

June 28, 2016
New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)

NEDO recently selected new research and development areas as part of a project to support the mass introduction of solar power across society, including three areas focused on safety procedures for design and maintenance and two areas involving technology development to enable the reuse of used solar cell modules.

More specifically, NEDO will conduct surveys, research, and demonstration tests related to issues with structural and electrical safety of solar power systems, and develop design guidelines to ensure safety. NEDO will also develop technologies for collecting, transporting, sorting, and repairing used cell modules.

Through these projects, NEDO aims to improve the long-term reliability of solar power generation systems and establish a system for a recycling-oriented society.
