NEDO Begins Study on Existing Environmental Impacts to Reduce the Processing Time for Environmental Assessments
－Aiming to Cut Environmental Assessment Processing Time
in Half with Rational Methods－

New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)
NEDO is launching a new project aiming to realize efficient front-loaded environmental research in addition to implementing a project that aims to halve the time required to conduct the environmental assessments necessary for the establishment of new power generation facilities including wind power generation facilities.
In this new project, NEDO will study the real world environmental impacts of wind power generation facilities that are under construction or have been built but not yet assessed and use the resulting data to identify assessment areas that require more intensive focus as well as areas that can be assessed more efficiently. Once the comprehensive results have been compiled, NEDO aims to propose a rational environmental impact study method that will halve the conventional environmental assessment period of four years without sacrificing assessment quality.
