NEDO Conducts Demonstration Testing of a Bridge Inspection Robot
-Partnership with the City of Kawasaki Aims for Early Practical Application-

July 26, 2016
New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)

As part of a NEDO project, iXs Research Corp. conducted demonstration tests of a bridge inspection robot they developed in Kawasaki City on July 26.

The demonstration tests were conducted using one of the City's bridges. The effectiveness of the technology to assist with the inspection of road bridges was evaluated by maneuvering the robot under the bridge's girders while digitally imaging them and processing the images.

This demonstration test is one example of the activities being conducted under the "Cooperative Agreement on Next-Generation Industry Promotion" signed by NEDO and the City of Kawasaki this June. In the future, NEDO aims for the early practical application of bridge inspection robots in collaboration with the City of Kawasaki.
