NEDO Promotes the Development of Advanced Structural Materials and Processing Techniques for Aircrafts
－Aiming to Grow the Japanese Aeronautics Industry to Two Trillion Yen by 2020 and Three Trillion Yen by 2030－

NEDO has selected seven entities to work on the development of advanced structural materials and processing techniques for aircrafts under three new project themes, with the aim of strengthening the competitiveness of the components and materials industry as well as the processing and manufacturing industry.
The project themes include the development of highly-productive, low-cost production technology for composite materials, the development of technology to apply magnesium alloy to structural materials for aircrafts, the development of automatic lamination machines for composite materials for aircrafts, and the development of prediction technology-based high-speed machining and processing technology for difficult-to-machine materials for aircrafts.
By supporting these projects, NEDO aims to help the Japanese aeronautics industry reach two trillion yen in sales by 2020 and three trillion yen by 2030.
