As part of a NEDO project, Nisshinbo Mechatronics Inc. has developed a high efficiency photovoltaic thermal hybrid collector with an accumulated solar energy conversion efficiency (a combined power generation and heat collection efficiency) of 78.0% (based on a power generation efficiency of 15.5% and a heat collection efficiency of 62.5%), and demonstration test of the system has been launched at Daito Onsen Seatopia in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture.

The demonstration test involves Japan's largest test system with 140 of the newly developed collectors installed. The test will continue until February 2017 to verify the performance and reliability of the collector with an aim toward its commercialization.
