Aiming to Realize the World's First Practical Application of a Bioethanol Production Plant Utilizing Cassava Pulp
-Seeking to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions by Approximately 120,000 Tons/Year-

New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)

Based on the outcomes of a NEDO project, Sapporo Holdings Limited (SHL) and Innotech Green Energy Company Limited (IGE) in Thailand announced on January 9 that they will work together to achieve the world’s first practical application of a bioethanol production plant utilizing cassava pulp. SHL and IGE have concluded the contract of consultation on the provision of bioethanol production technology and plant design, which aims to construct a plant with an annual output of 60,000 kL of bioethanol. IGE will launch a business feasibility study based on the result of the consultation.

The greenhouse gas reduction by this plant is estimated to be approximately 120,000 tons per year. NEDO expects the technology will continue to contribute to disseminating biofuel production technology and solving energy and environmental problems not only in Thailand but also among countries in ASEAN area where cassava cultivation is popular.
