NEDO and AIST Develop One-Pot Synthesis Technology for Siloxane Bonds
-A New Key to the Creation of Highly Functional High-Performance Silicone Materials-

As part of a NEDO project, the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) developed a technology (one-pot synthesis technology) that can be used to selectively produce multiple siloxane bonds that form the main skeleton of organic silicon materials such as silicone in a single reaction container.

This newly developed method enables the one-pot production of structurally-controlled siloxane compounds that are difficult to achieve through conventional methods or usually require multi-step synthesis. It is expected that highly functional and high-performance silicone materials will be developed based on this technology. The details of this research will be posted as a VIP (Very Important Paper) in Angewandte Chemie International Edition published by Wiley-VCH on February 2, 2017 (local time).
