CIS Thin-Film PV Submodule Achieves the World's Highest Conversion Efficiency of 19.2%
-Significant progress toward realizing a 14 yen / kWh power generation cost target-

NEDO and Solar Frontier K.K. have achieved the world's highest conversion efficiency of 19.2% with a 30cm×30cm copper indium selenide (CIS) based thin-film photovoltaic (PV) submodule. This was achieved based on improvements to the CIS absorber layer and buffer layers, and marks significant progress towards achieving NEDO's power generation cost target of 14 yen / kWh in 2020.
