NEDO, in cooperation with contractor Panasonic Corporation, has developed an exhaust heat circulation system that enables the highly efficient recycling of high-temperature exhaust heat energy from industrial furnaces that was previously disposed of in conventional systems.

The system utilizes an electric field to separate and remove unnecessary particles contained in high-temperature exhaust and then returns the purified exhaust to the furnace again for reuse. Under continuous operation for over 500 hours installed in a reflow furnace, the system achieved a dust collection rate of 91% and an exhaust heat energy recovery rate of 75%.
