NEDO Launches a Demonstration Test of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Systems in Osaka
－Introduction for commercial and industrial use scheduled in FY2017－
March 29, 2017
New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)
As part of a NEDO project, NEDO awardee Hitachi Zosen Corporation will conduct a demonstration test to prepare for the market introduction of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) power-generating system for commercial and industrial use. The system will be installed in two places in Osaka and will be in continuous operation for more than 4,000 hours under actual circumstances to evaluate its safety and reliability.
The system being demonstrated is a small-scale unit designed for distributed power generation use and excels at energy efficiency and energy conservation. Further, it is expected to be very environmentally friendly in terms of its low noise, low vibration, and low CO2 emitting design.
This demonstration test is part of Hitachi Zosen Corporation's efforts as a participant in the "H2Osaka Vision Promotion Conference", which is a joint effort between Osaka Prefecture and Osaka City that aims to create advanced hydrogen projects.
