New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)

Today NEDO has released the national version of the Offshore Wind Information System (NeoWins) integrating multiple information on wind conditions and natural and social environments, required for planning installation sites for offshore wind energy development. This is the first attempt to make a web-based integrated wind resource map in Japan. The NeoWins provides offshore wind condition information based on high-accuracy numerical simulation, as well as various data on natural and social environments which are necessary for developing offshore wind energy, including water depth, marine geology, port areas, shipping routes, etc.

This map is expected to support local governments and developers that are planning offshore wind energy development projects.
