NEDO Promotes Greater Regional Utilization of Biomass Energy
- Selecting six new projects aimed at creating self-sustaining regional systems -

November 4, 2016
New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)

As part of the "Demonstration Project of Self-Sustaining Regional Systems for Biomass Energy" that was launched in FY 2014, NEDO awarded six new projects after having called for proposals for feasibility studies (FS) to expand the use of biomass energy.

The feasibility of systems optimized to take advantage of regional characteristics concerning each type of biomass (wood, wet, urban-type, and mixed-type) will be evaluated as part of these awarded projects. The results will be summarized to create highly practical technical guidelines and introduction requirements that will be published on an annual basis.
