NEDO, Waseda University, and the Institute of Applied Energy initiated a demonstration test for the compressed air energy storage (CAES) system. This system uses newly developed algorithms based on power output forecasts to stably utilize wind power, which tends to fluctuate depending on weather conditions. The demonstration test will be conducted at a facility connected to an existing wind farm in Kawazu Town, Kamo-gun, Shizuoka Prefecture. The demonstration aims to establish the control technology of CAES systems and expand use of renewable energy.
