NEDO has published the latest report on wind power generation facilities and installations as of the end of March 2017.
According to the report, the total installed wind capacity as of the end of March 2017 reached approximately 3.36 million kW, a 7.8% increase from last fiscal year, while the total number of installations increased by 5% to reach 2,203. In FY2016 alone, 105 new installations were added to the total and about 240,000kW of additional wind capacity was introduced. These figures represent the total net amount, taking into consideration the discontinuation and removal of wind power generation facilities.
Every fiscal year, NEDO aggregates and releases various information on wind power generation facilities and installations in Japan, based on survey responses from Japanese power companies. For this report, NEDO surveyed all grid-connected wind power generation facilities with a single unit output of more than 10kW and a total output of more than 20kW.
