NEDO Selects Four Biotechnology Development Projects to Produce Industrial Materials from Microorganisms
– Finding maximum productivity levels for cells’ production capabilities –

August 31, 2017
New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)

NEDO has selected four additional projects to realize a "smart cell industry" that produces industrial materials from the cells of plants and microorganisms. The project teams will accelerate the development of substance production technology, high speed DNA synthesis and evaluation technology, non-destructive/minimally invasive cell evaluation technology, and knowledge databases that use AI. These new awards will strengthen NEDO’s current project portfolio, to advance commercialization in a timely manner in the fiercely competitive biotechnology sector.

NEDO aims to help establish a sustainable society by exploring the maximum utility for "smart cells" of plants and microorganisms that can manufacture synthetic substances.
