New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)

NEDO will have an exhibit at "BioJapan 2017," which will be held at PACIFICO Yokohama from October 11 through 13. The exhibit will introduce developments in materials using the latest biotechnology. By holding the exhibition, NEDO will identify industry needs for biotechnology, provide business matching opportunities, and promote the commercialization of biotechnology.

For example, NEDO will be exhibiting its latest DNA synthesizer prototype. This equipment enables the DNA synthesis of strands up to 200 bases long, produced at a low cost and in a shorter time compared with the conventional commercially available products, which are limited to strands of about 100 bases in length. It is expected to make a significant contribution to various biotechnology fields, including the commercialization of genome editing technology.

In addition, at a NEDO seminar that will be held on October 11, policy makers from five government ministries and agencies as well as experts will join a panel discussion and give talks regarding future biotechnology development strategies.
