New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)
NEDO has recently expanded the target sectors for its project on revolutionizing IoT-enabled social systems, which now include the fields of industrial security and manufacturing. NEDO has also selected eighteen projects for verifying the benefits of IoT applications.
For the industrial security field, NEDO will seek to further realize efficient and flexible maintenance of plant facilities while increasing their reliability by applying new technologies such as IoT and big data analysis,. Additionally, it will establish a standard platform model for enabling the utilization of shared data between refineries and chemical plants, and it will make recommendations for future deregulation and policies.
For the manufacturing field, NEDO will establish a cross-industry standard which can enable the sharing and utilization of operating status data of factories' production facilities between different factories as well as between different companies. This technology is expected to lead to further transformation in IoT-oriented production systems and drive innovation in business models.
