As part of a NEDO project, Marukyo Suisan, Limited, and the Hokkaido Research Organization (HRO) have developed a carbohydrate oligomer that is capable of significantly increased absorption in the human digestive tract. The project has also established mass production technology for this carbohydrate oligomer by applying micro-chemical processing technology.

This carbohydrate oligomer is expected to be utilized for functional foods, as well as for cosmetic and medical materials. Based on the project results, Marukyo Suisan Limited will soon begin commercial production of the carbohydrate oligomer.
