Osaka Prefecture

As part of a NEDO project, Aero Asahi Corporation, in cooperation with Osaka Prefecture, will conduct demonstration tests of underwater inspection floating robots at two sites in Osaka Prefecture. The goal of the tests is to improve the safety and accuracy of survey work of riverbeds and the bottoms of dams by using robots. This work had been done by human workers until now.

To realize efficient urban infrastructure development, maintenance and management, Osaka Prefecture will support efforts by universities and the Japanese government to develop new technologies including robotics, by providing demonstration sites. It also plans to incorporate cutting-edge technology.

The demonstration test will be conducted on the Hirano River Flood Control Reservoir and the Daini Neya River on November 13, and at Sayama-ike Dam on November 14 and 15. Going forward, the Aero Asahi Corporation will continue to improve the floating robots based on the results of the demonstration tests, with a goal of accelerating practical application.
