NEDO Conducts Test for Setting Performance Evaluation Standards for Underwater Inspection Robots in Dam and River Settings
– Validates testing method and testing environment –

NEDO, Panasonic Corp., Aero Asahi Corp., and Panasonic System Solutions Japan Co., Ltd. have jointly conducted a test to set performance evaluation standards for remotely controlled underwater inspection robots that operate in dams and rivers.

In this test, NEDO operated the robots in testing pool facilities to validate testing methods for performance evaluation, which includes an inspection process for finding scratches on dam walls that were reproduced in the testing facilities, as well as an inspection process for identifying scourings on riverbeds. It also verified the validity of the testing environment, such as the specifications and arrangements of the test components necessary to complete the test.

By making use of the data from this test, as well as through further efforts, NEDO will contribute to the development of performance evaluation standards for underwater inspection robots in dam and river settings.
