As part of a NEDO project, Sugino Machine, Ltd. has successfully developed a cellulose nanofiber (CNF) dry powder that can be used to reinforce resin materials. Additionally, joint research conducted with Toyama Prefectural University revealed that when the developed CNF dry powder and resin are combined, the resulting compound has unique structural features, such as a higher growth rate and greater tensile strength.
Sugino Machine Ltd. will start providing a sample of the developed product, "BiNFi-s Dry Powder," to interested researchers after April of this year. It will work to further develop new applications for the powder, including paints, electronics materials, chemical products, and automobile parts that do not include resin.
Samples of this new product (Figures 1 and 2) will be showcased at Sugino Machine's and NEDO's booths at "nano tech 2018," which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight from February 14 to 16.
