Agreed to Start FS for Smart Community Demonstration Project in Germany

NEDO and the city of Speyer in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, have agreed to carry out a feasibility study (FS) for a Smart Community Demonstration Project in Speyer, and an Letter of Intent (LOI) was signed on May 13 by Executive Director Hiroshi Kuniyoshi and Mr. Hansjörg Eger, Mayor of Speyer.
In this project, electric power produced by solar panels at a housing complex in Speyer will be controlled with an Home Energy Management System (HEMS). The power will be allocated for consumption in homes, storage in batteries, and heat storage in a heat pump. In this way the project will realize a high-efficiency energy system and demonstrate its effectiveness.
