NEDO, the German city of Speyer, and Stadtwerke Speyer GmbH (SWS) of Germany Concludes MOU for Smart Community Demonstration Project
July 24, 2015
NEDO, the German city of Speyer, and Stadtwerke Speyer GmbH (SWS) of Germany have agreed to promote a local energy production and consumption model smart community demonstration project in Speyer and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the project. Dr. Kuniyoshi, Executive Director of NEDO, Mr. Eger, Mayor of Speyer, and Mr. Bühring, President of SWS signed the MOU on July 23, 2015.
As prices for purchasing power under the Feed-in Tariff program decline and the benefits of selling the PV generated power diminish in Germany, the demonstration project aims to use as much of the PV generated power as possible to satisfy household energy consumption while reducing total household energy costs including heating cost, with the resulting feedback expected to be applicable to Japan’s future energy situation as well.
