NEDO Held a Ceremony to Celebrate the Completion of the Wind Power Generation System Demonstration in Kamchatka Krai, Russia

On September 10th, NEDO held a dedication ceremony in Ust-Kamchatsk for the "Demonstration Project on Cold Climate-resistant Wind Power Generation Systems in Isolated Grid Areas," which is being conducted in Kamchatka Krai, Russia. NEDO Chairman Kazuo Furukawa greeted the audience by saying that he hopes that this project will lead to the establishment of the technology that can greatly reduce the diesel fuel use and the wide-spread use of the technology in areas in which the power grid is isolated in Russia.

Following the dedication ceremony, an award ceremony for an art contest focused on the theme of "Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation" was held, and Chairman Furukawa explained the importance of energy and the environment to local children.

A total of about 240 people attended the dedication and award ceremonies. In addition to Mr. V. I. Ilyukhin, Governor of Kamchatka Krai, and Mr. Pavel Koshkarev, Head of the Municipal District of Ust-Kamchatsky, and approximately 70 people from partner agencies and corporations participated, joined by about 170 local residents including 50 children.
