NEDO Held a Ceremony to Celebrate the Start of the Operation of a Smart Community Demonstration Project in France

On September 17th, a ceremony was held to celebrate the completion of the construction and the start of the operation of the positive energy building HIKARI (“Light”), which is part of NEDO's "Smart Community Demonstration Project" in Lyon, France.

Executive Director Hiroshi Kuniyoshi, who attended the ceremony, said, "I hope that this project will shine a light not only in Lyon but throughout the world, and that cooperation between Japan and France will create innovation to solve global energy and environmental problems." He also called for further participation and cooperation from local residents.

Around 300 people attended the ceremony, including Mr. Gérard Collomb, President of the Metropolis of Lyon; Mr. François Bertière, Chairman and CEO of Bouygues Immobilier, which constructed the building; French and Japanese partner agencies and businesses; demonstration project participants; HIKARI building residents; and local residents from Lyon.
