NEDO Held "Silicon Valley Immersion Program Summer 2017"

From August 7th to August 11th, NEDO held "Silicon Valley Immersion Program Summer 2017" for technology startups which are aiming to expand their businesses in Silicon Valley.

Through the workshops and mentoring sessions, the startups had opportunities to discuss their businesses and learn from venture capital firms, accelerators, MBA professors, successful entrepreneurs and business experts who have experiences in both Japan and United States in their fields.

In addition, NEDO held "Japanese Pitch Night" at Google Launchpad in San Francisco, on August 10. The startups presented their business plans in front of more than 200 audiences including investors and large corporations in Silicon Valley, and Metcela Inc. was awarded the grand prize.

At the event, there was a panel discussion focused on the challenges in bringing R&D to commercialization. Steve Goldberg of Venrock, Deborah Magid of IBM Venture Capital Group, Balaji Gopinath of Forté Ventures, Jim French of Panasonic R&D Company of America and Ryan Bethencourt of Indie Bio participated in lively discussion.

Companies that participated in "Silicon Valley Immersion Program Summer 2017" were as follows: Medigear International Corporation, Metcela Inc., RFLocus Inc., Phoenix Solution Co. Ltd., SOINN Inc. and ArchiTek Co. Ltd.
